New recommendations to improve medication safety and reduce the number of medication errors in the NHS have been published by the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) on March 28th 2007.
Patient safety alert 19: Promoting safer measurement and administration of liquid medicines via oral and other enteral routes (Alert 2 of 5)
The NPSA has produced a number of safer practice recommendations in the form of a patient safety alert and a range of supporting materials to aid implementation and embed safer practice:
· Patient safety alert
· Patient briefing
· Poster promoting the use of oral syringes
